
Red Bulls To Play In '08 Challenge Cup

SECAUCUS, NJ (Tuesday, January 8, 2008) - Red Bull New York announced today that they will compete in the 2008 Carolina Challenge Cup set to take place at Blackbaud Stadium in Daniel Island, SC from March 15-22. The Red Bulls join Eastern Conference rival, Toronto FC, MLS expansion side, the San Jose Earthquakes and the USL First Division Charleston Battery in the tournament. This is the fifth year that the preseason competition has been in existence and this is the second-straight year that the Red Bulls have been involved.
All three MLS teams will spend the week in Charleston, SC, training between the games as they prepare for the start of the MLS season. The Red Bulls kick off their regular season on April 5 against the Columbus Crew at Giants Stadium at 7:30 PM ET.
The competition format will remain unchanged in 2008 with three matchdays each featuring a double-header. The games will be played on Saturday (March 15) - Wednesday (March 19) - Saturday (March 22), with each team playing the other in a round-robin format.
