The Red Bulls have flipped the road woes script this season, beginning the 2017 season 1-6 away from Red Bull Arena and have now gone 5-2-1 on the road in their last eight matches across all competition (3-2-1 MLS/ 2-0-0 Open Cup). With 40 points in fifth place and eight matches remaining, the Red Bulls are just two points back and two games in hand behind Columbus, four points and a game in hand behind Chicago and seven points back of NYCFC.

New York captain Sacha Kljestan has picked it up on the offensive end during the second half of the season. Throughout the first 17 MLS matches, Kljestan had just six assists. In the last nine MLS games, the New York midfielder has tallied 11 points on two goals and seven assists.
