SPOKANE, Wash. - Garrett Pilon earned his second career hat trick in his second game since arriving and Matt Fonteyne scored twice, helping lift the Everett Silvertips to a 5-2 victory over the Spokane Chiefs before 6,541 fans at Spokane Arena on Saturday in WHL action.

Pilon earned his first three goals as a Silvertips while fellow former Kamloops Blazer Ondrej Vala had an assist from blueline. Carter Hart, returning to the Silvertips for his first game since winning a gold medal with Canada at the World Juniors, made 31 saves.

UP NEXT: The Tips take on the Portland Winterhawks next, tomorrow at Veterans Memorial Coliseum (1380 AM / FM 95.3 / Tips App / WHL Live). The Silvertips return home Monday, 4:05 p.m. against Tri-City. Tickets are on sale as low as $14 at www.everettsilvertips.com/tickets.

Jake McGrew's pinpoint deflection on a Kailer Yamamoto pass to the net put Spokane up 1-0 at 7:24, and followed by a remarkable save by Hart on another McGrew deflection attempt.

Pilon started the Tips run at 13:23 to tie the game, 1-1 when his re-direction of Vala's left point shot snuck past Bailey Brkin. Matt Fonteyne collected a loose puck fired a turnaround shot from the left circle for a 2-1 lead at 17:51. Pilon then slammed a rebound from the left circle past Brkin, off a low right point shot by Wyatte Wylie with 1:15 to play.

Matt Fonteyne's power play goal, a bounce off Luke Toporowski at 12:53 of the second period, stretched the Tips lead to 4-1. Pilon buried the game on a 60-footer from the blueline, an empty netter for his hat trick with 1:54 to play in regulation.
