Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Carter Hart turned in a 30 save shutout while Montana Onyebuchi scored the first goal of the game and earned the first multi-point game of his career in a 3-0 victory for the Everett Silvertips over the Saskatoon Blades before a crowd of 5,612 on Teddy Bear Toss night at XFINITY Arena in WHL action.

Hart's 23 shutout of his career was supported by Patrick Bajkov's multi point game and a first period goal by Matt Fonteyne, as the Tips won for a season high fifth time and stayed within a point of second place Spokane in the U.S. Division.

Onyebuchi sent a laser one-timer from the point at 6:53 to send the bears flying from the stands, with credit to Sean Richards and Patrick Bajkov for setting up Onyebuchi at the blueline. Everett had their first power play at 15:20. As the power play expired, Matt Fonteyne got a wrist shot past Nolan Maier from the left circle at 17:21 to make it 2-0 Tips.

The second period began with the 5-on-3 for Everett and despite numerous chances were unable to capitalize. Carter Hart kept the Tips up 2-0 on a breakaway save on Mark Rubinchik following Saskatoon's penalty kill, and later a trip by Rubinchik at 18:11 got both teams at each other's throats and into a scrum. The scrum led to a fight between Sean Richards and Jake Kustra who both got five for fighting.

The third period began with a brief power play for Everett but they were unable to capitalize. Shortly after the power play, Patrick Bajkov got his 15th of the season and 3rd point of the night with an unassisted goal as he raced into the Saskatoon zone and had a wrist shot from the right circle that trickled past the Saskatoon netminder to make it 3-0 Tips, just 57 seconds into the period.

The Blades threw everything they could at Carter Hart but he made 10 saves in the final frame to get himself a shutout on Teddy Bear Toss night; Hart made 61 saves out of 62 in back to back games.

Hart's counterpart, Maier, made 34 saves.
