Darick Hall set the new BlueClaws home run and RBI records in Wednesday's win at Hagerstown.
--- LAKEWOOD, NJ -It was a record-breaking night for Darick Hall, who became the BlueClaws single-season home run and RBI leader as part of a 14-4 BlueClaws win in Hagerstown. Hall had four hits, two home runs, and tied the franchise record with seven RBIs in the win.
Hall, a 14th round pick last year from Dallas Baptist, hit his 25th home run in the third inning, breaking Jose Pujols ' franchise record of 24, set last year. Then in the fifth, he hit his 26th home run and drove in his 91st, game, breaking Randy Ruiz 's RBI record of 91 set in 2004. His seven RBIs tied a franchise record set on three previous occasions, most recently by Jiandido Tromp in 2015.
Meanwhile, Lakewood (27-32/67-62) won their second straight game in routing the Suns (29-28/67-59). Each Lakewood starter had a hit, led by Hall's four. Adam Haseley had three, while Arquimedes Gamboa, Colby Fitch, and Luke Williams had two apiece.
Lakewood blew open a 1-1 game with six runs in the third inning. They took the lead on Hall's RBI groundout but the inning also included a two-run single from Luke Williams and an RBI single from Jesus Alastre .
Hall homered in the fourth inning, the first of his two on the night, to put Lakewood up 9-1, and then added his second in the fifth inning. This three-run home run put the BlueClaws up 12-3.
Hagerstown starter Carlos Pena gave up seven runs, three earned, in 2.2 innings and took the loss while reliever Kyle Simonds gave up six runs, five earned, on 10 hits in 3.1 innings of relief.
Luis Carrasco, who allowed four runs, three earned, picked up his first win as a BlueClaw while Tyler Hallead and Ismael Cabrera each threw two scoreless innings in relief.
Daniel Brito had one hit and in the process extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
The BlueClaws look for a three-game sweep of Hagerstown on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Mauricio Llovera (1-3) starts for Lakewood opposite LHP Ben Braymer (1-2).
