Reading Honored Amongst Top Minor Pro Sports Markets in America

Reading, PA -The Reading Royals of the ECHL today announced that the City of Reading, Pennsylvania, was selected as the nation's fourth best minor league sports market in Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal biennial rankings. This is the highest rating ever received by Reading in the Street & Smith's rankings which have been conducted on four occasions. San Bernardino County, California, which serves as the home to the ECHL's Ontario Reign, and Reading were the nation's top minor pro markets in the survey which include an ECHL team.

Reading received it's ranking based on the performance of the Reading Phillies, the Double-A affiliate of the Reading Phillies, the Reading Express indoor football team, and the Royals. The Express and the Royals play their home games at the Sovereign Center in Reading, which is set to kick off the venue's Tenth Anniversary Celebration year this September. Reading's Sovereign Center is managed by SMG, the world-wide leader in convention and entertainment venue management.

In addition to Reading, the other cities named in the survey's top five were (1) Hershey-Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, (2) San Bernardino County, California, (3) Providence-Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and (5) Portland, Maine.
