June 20, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF)
Rock River Raptors News Release

The Rock River Raptors are turning the Rock Pile into a huge summer picnic party when they host the Bloomington Extreme on June 24th. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

That's because the team is giving away 10,000 free hot dogs while they last. The promotion is sponsored by Insight Cable.

In conjunction with Free Hot Dog Night, Rock River will be holding their first annual Raptors Hot Dog Eating Contest. The event will take place at Raptors Park at 6:45 p.m.

Captain Jack of WXRX 104.9FM and Manic the Hispanic of Classic Rock 95.3FM will serve as the hosts and will pick six contestants to see who can eat the most hot dogs in five minutes.

Rock River, who has already clinched the third seed in the UIF play-offs by winning the Central Division, takes an 8-4 record into Saturday's game while the Extreme are 5-7 on the year after a 28-10 loss to the Omaha Beef.

The Raptors will look to build on the momentum of their last second 29-27 win over the Fort Wayne Freedom on June 17th.

A 38-yard field goal by Dillon Pieffer as time expired helped Rock River get back on the winning track after a road loss to the Beef.

Raptors quarterback Ben Sankey completed 17-of-29 passes for 151 yards and three touchdown passes.

Tyrece Butler caught four passes for 73 yards and Willie Tolan added five catches for 30 yards.

On defense, Greg Cole registered 8.5 tackles while Ferenadez Shaw recorded another sack.

Saturday's game will be the third match-up between the Raptors and the Extreme with Rock River taking the first two games.

On April 8th, a last-second Hail Mary pass from Sankey to Luke McArdle gave the Raptors a 36-34 win.

Bloomington made their first trip to the Rock Pile less than a month later on May 6th and the Raptors won by a score of 53-45.
