
Rapids Waive Three Players

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, June 28, 2012) - The Colorado Rapids announced on Thursday that the club has waived thee players: forward Quincy Amarikwa, midfielder Ross LaBauex, and defender Eddie Ababio. Amarikwa and LaBauex joined the Rapids in 2010, while Ababio came to the Rapids ahead of the 2011 season.
"We would like to thank Quincy, Ross and Eddie for their service to the club, and we wish all three players the very best going forward," said Colorado Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo.
Amarikwa joined the Rapids in a trade with the San Jose Earthquakes on April 7, 2010, and made 31 appearances (seven starts) in the regular season, scoring three goals and adding an assist. LaBauex, the Rapids' second round selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, made 18 appearances (six starts) in the regular season. Ababio, the Rapids' first round selection in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft, did not make a regular season appearance, but entered one 2011 playoff match as a substitute and also played in a CONCACAF Champions League game.
The Rapids will host the Portland Timbers this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, and then hold their 17th Annual 4thFest against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 4.
