Rapids Waive Four Players

DENVER, CO (03-03-05)- The Colorado Rapids waived today forward Chris Carrieri, midfielder Seth Trembly, defender Michael Erush and goalkeeper Scott Vallow. The team also announced that it will not exercise the contract option for Cuban players Rey Ángel Martinez and Alberto Delgado.

With the six-man roster move the Black and Blue complies with Major League Soccer roster regulations.

Carrieri, who had been signed by the Black and Blue in January 2005 spent last season playing with the Rochester Rhinos. He notched two assists in the Rapids' three preseason scrimmages.

Martinez and Delgado, the two Cubans that were signed by the team in the middle of last season, had not traveled with the team to the Ecuador preseason leg. Martinez notched one assist in seven games with the Black and Blue last season. Delgado netted one goal and recorded three assists during his 13 games with Colorado in 2004.

Trembly, the Littleton, Colorado native signed his first senior roster contract on February 3, 2005 after spending six seasons as a developmental player in MLS. He netted two goals and two assists in 52 games playing with the Rapids since joining the team in 2000.

Erush, who signed a developmental contract with the Rapids on March 24, 2004 did not see MLS action with the Black and Blue.

Vallow, who signed with the Rapids on February 8th 2003, has played a total of four MLS games with the team.
