Round Rock Express News Release

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Darren O'Day from Triple-A Round Rock. To make room on the active roster for O'Day, the club has optioned catcher Taylor Teagarden to Round Rock.

This is O'Day's third stint with the club, the others from Opening Day-July 13 and Aug. 6-9. He spent over two months on the disabled list from April 27-July 1 for surgery to repair a partial tear of the labrum in his left hip. O'Day has gone 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA (5 ER/11.2 IP) in 12 relief appearances for Texas this season. He tossed 5.1 shutout innings over 4 appearances for Round Rock during his most recent Triple-A stint, and has gone 1-0 with a save and a 2.21 ERA (5 ER/20.1 IP) in 17 games/one start for the Express this season. His last outing was Sunday vs. New Orleans (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 SO, 36 pitches/20 strikes).

Teagarden has had four stints with the Rangers this season (April 20-May 6; May 18-23; June 12-July 3; July 28-Aug. 23). He has batted .235 (8-34) with 2 doubles and 2 RBI over 14 games with Texas in 2011. He has spent the rest of the year at Round Rock (AAA), batting .281 (38-135) with 10 home runs, 4 doubles, 3 triples, and 20 RBI in 37 games for the Express.

With these moves, the Rangers still have a full 40-man roster.
