CLEBURNE, Texas - The Cleburne Railroaders have signed catcher Michael Pair, the club announced Tuesday.

Pair, 29, finds his way to the Railroaders to begin his sixth season of independent professional baseball.

"I'm just excited," Pair said. "I've heard a lot of great things about the city, the organization and the fans. And I'm just excited to get going."

Pair's journeyman career has seen him play for eight different teams in four leagues across his first five years of baseball. He holds a career .220/.331/.344 slashline with 16 homers and 84 RBI in 237 games. Pair most recently played for Sioux Falls in 2016, where he matched a career high with six homers in 37 games.

Pair's best season came in 2014, when he posted a .961 OPS in 27 games with the Fort Worth Cats. He has also played with Joplin and Texas in the American Association.

The club now has 25 players under contract. American Association clubs may carry up to 28 players during spring camp, which begins May 7.

The Railroaders open their second season with a three-game series against the two-time defending champion Winnipeg Goldeyes May 18 at The Depot. Single-game tickets are on sale now by visiting www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
