Clinton LumberKings News Release

CLINTON, IA (July 5, 2017) - For the second time in the home stand Yojhan Quevedo was responsible for a walk-off win, as the Clinton LumberKings dropped the Burlington Bees 3-2 in 10 innings on Wednesday night at Ashford University Field. The walk-off win was the LumberKings (4-10, 35-46) third of the season and their first against the Bees (5-9, 36-47).

Burlington scored all their runs on the night in the very first inning. LumberKings starter Brandon Miller allowed two runs in the top of the first inning. Keith Grieshaber began the rally with a one out double and scored two pitches later when Luis Rengifo committed a throwing error on a Jack Kruger ground ball. The error allowed the first run of the game to score and was compounded when Brennon Morgan singled to center for a two out RBI.

Miller then settled down to work 5.2 innings and allow no more runs in a start where he received a no decision.

The LumberKings chipped away at the 2-0 deficit with their first run of the night in the bottom of the third inning. Rengifo tripled to right center field with one out in the inning and then scored on a Bryson Brigman RBI ground out to short.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the LumberKings tied the score. Johnny Salter collected the second triple of the game for Clinton sneaking a line drive fair behind the first base bag for his first extra base hit with the LumberKings. Slater then scored when Bees reliever Ronnie Glenn threw the game's first wild pitch.

The game remained tied through the ninth inning and into the 10th. Jack Anderson worked the final two innings for Clinton and allowed just two base runners to reach against him, both via errors. Anderson (2-2) struck out two in his outing to earn his second win of the season.

In the bottom of the 10th inning the LumberKings rallied with out against Burlington reliever Greg Belton. Bryson Brigman singled to center to put the winning run on and then moved to second base on a Belton (1-2) wild pitch. With the winning run in scoring position, Yojhan Quevedo smashed a ground ball to the hole on the left side of the infield. Bees third basemen Grieshaber then dove to his left and could make the play on the ball as it hit off his glove and slowly rolled into the outfield allowing Brigman to score the game winning run.

The LumberKings will conclude the 7-game homestand with the series finale of a three-game set against the Burlington Bees on Thursday night. Right-handed pitcher Robert Dugger (1-3, 2.33) will take the ball for Clinton and face Burlington right-handed pitcher Andrew Vinson (5-7, 5.61). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM (CDT) with the pregame show beginning at 6:15 PM (CDT) on 100.3 FM WCCI, Erik Oas is on the call. Thursday's are "Thirsty Thursday's" at Ashford University field with $1 ten-ounce Coors Light and Miller Lite draft beers available form 5-8 PM for fans 21 years and older. The team will also be taking the field in special throwback uniforms as part of "throwback Thursday."
