Portland Winterhawks News Release
Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
The Winterhawks enter the week having won four straight games, outscoring opponents 20-6 in those four contests. The team has also won 10 straight games at home. Portland leads the U.S. Division with 41 points, six ahead of the second place Spokane Chiefs. The Hawks also trail league-leading Kamloops by just one point, with three games in hand. Portland leads the league in winning percentage (.820), goals for (116), goals against (53) and goal differential (+63).
Brendan Leipsic has been phenomenal over the last month, with a 13-game point streak, including 11 consecutive multi-point games. After his four points in Saturday's 8-2 win over Seattle, Leipsic has amassed 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points over the last 13 games. His hot streak has elevated him into a tie for fourth in league scoring with 38 points on the season.
Leipsic's linemates, Nic Petan and Ty Rattie, are also among the league's top six scorers. Petan is third with 44 points, including an eight-game point streak with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. Like Leipsic, Rattie has 38 points on the season to tie him for fourth in the league, with points in 18 of his last 19 games. The league's top-six scorers are comprised of six players from two lines: Petan, Leipsic and Rattie, and the Kamloops Blazers' top line of JC Lipon (53 points), Colin Smith (52) and Tim Bozon (38).
