Phoenix Mercury Announces 2019 Opening Night Roster

PHOENIX - The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today announced its 12-player opening night roster for the 2019 season in advance of the Mercury's season opener on Saturday, May 25 in Seattle at 12:30 p.m. PST on ABC. WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi and 2018 WNBA All-Stars Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner return to lead a Mercury roster that features six-time WNBA All-Defensive Team selection and former WNBA All-Star and Champion Briann January, 2019 WNBA Draft picks Alanna Smith, Brianna Turner, Sophie Cunningham and Arica Carter, and offseason addition and former WNBA champion Essence Carson.

Following Saturday's season opener, the Mercury will tip-off its 2019 home schedule with Fry's Food Stores Opening Night on Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m. Phoenix Time on ESPN2 against 2018 WNBA Rookie of the Year A'ja Wilson, Liz Cambage and the Las Vegas Aces.

After coming within one win of trip to the WNBA Finals, the Phoenix Mercury return in 2019 in search of a league-record tying fourth WNBA title. Led by the All-Star trio of Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner, Phoenix opens its title quest on May 25 at Seattle on ABC.
