Phantoms Wrap up Six-Game Road Swing

CHICAGO 9, PHANTOMS 5

Chicago grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a powerplay goal just 3:58 into the game, but Matthew Cassidy responded with his seventh of the year just 1:17 later to tie the game at 1-1. Chicago struck twice in a row over a four-minute span to grab a 3-1 lead before Trevor Kuntar brought Youngstown back to within a goal at 13:20. A late Chicago goal gave the Steel a 4-2 lead and chased starting Youngstown netminder Dominic Basse. Chicago scored the first two goals of the second period to build a 6-2 lead, but Youngstown answered back with two of their own from Jake Suede at 12:53 and Kuntar at 18:24 to get back within two at 6-4. The Steel scored with 14-seconds left in second and 6:31 into the third to rebuild their four-goal lead. Bradley Marek scored on the breakaway at 10:46 to draw the Phantoms one closer, but Youngstown surrendered their fifth powerplay goal of the game at 18:33 to fall 9-5. Colin Purcell took the loss, stopping 33-of-38 as the Phantoms allowed 52 total shots for the game.

CHICAGO 7, PHANTOMS 1

Youngstown scored the opening goal off the stick of Jacob Felker 3:47 into the game thanks to a steal behind the net by Yusaku Ando, but things went downhill from there for the Phantoms. Chicago tied the game 40-seconds later and scored twice more for a 3-1 lead at the first intermission. The Steel tacked on four more in the second to go on to a 7-1 win. Colin Purcell started at stopped 11-of-16 in net for Youngstown and was pulled after the fifth Chicago goal. Dominic Basse came on in relief and stopped 15-of-17.

MUSKEGON 4, PHANTOMS 2

After a scoreless first period, Jacob Felker opened the scoring 1:58 into the second to stake the Phantoms to a 1-0 lead. Muskegon scored three in a row, including a shorthanded goal, to nab a 3-1 lead 2:05 into the third period. Trevor Kuntar scored a powerplay goal at 5:24 to snap the Lumberjacks' scoring run, but Muskegon tacked on an insurance goal at 7:27 to put the game away. Dominic Basse took the loss, stopping 27-of-31.
