Petes Stave off Late Attack Comeback

(Peterborough, ON) - Despite a late push from the Attack, a three-goal third period by the Maroon and White led to a 5-3 Petes win in Owen Sound on Saturday night.

The Petes got consecutive goals from Tucker Robertson (8), Liam Kirk (18), and Nick Robertson (43) in the first period. Zach Gallant (27) responded early in the third to an Owen Sound goal, while Nick Robertson (44), who overtook the league goal scoring lead, scored an empty netter after the Attack scored twice late in the game.

Akil Thomas had three assists, bringing his OHL career points total to over 300. Kirk, J.R. Avon, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev, and Mason McTavish each recorded single helpers.

Final shots were 39-38 in favour of the Petes, with Hunter Jones making 35 saves. Peterborough went 2/4 on the power play and 6/7 on the penalty kill.

The Petes wrap up the long weekend with a Family Day matinee against the Sudbury Wolves on Monday, February 17 at 2:05pm.
