Peter Reynolds to Participate in Sea Dogs Development Camp

Saint John Sea Dogs News Release

The Saint John Sea Dogs hold their 2019 Development Camp on Friday, and Fredericton native Peter Reynolds will be participating.

Ranked 3rd overall in the 2019 QMJHL Draft by Central Scouting, Reynolds was available to the Sea Dogs at pick 21 due to his commitment to the NCAA and intentions to pursue hockey in the BCHL next season. Reynolds has spent the last three seasons playing in Minnesota, collecting 236 points in 162 games for top prep school Shattuck St. Mary's.

The gifted forward has been playing hockey away from home since he was twelve and this weekend he will finally take to the ice in his own backyard, donning his hometown team colours.

"It's an honour to be drafted by my hometown team" said Reynolds. "It's a team that I grew up watching, and to finally be at that stage now myself, to be at a place where I have seen a lot of guys go through, it's so special."

On putting on a Sea Dogs sweater for the first time.

"I was smiling cheek to cheek - finally getting to put that jersey on."

Reynolds grew up idolizing a former Sea Dogs Captain.

"I grew up admiring Spencer Smallman. We are both from Freddy and we trained together. Seeing everything he accomplished as a Sea Dog and beyond is incredible."

Reynolds highlighted the most important people in his life.

"Thanks to my entire family, my friends, and previous coaches and trainers that I worked with."

Also making a splash this weekend will be Joshua Roy, this year's first overall selection in the QMJHL Entry Draft.

It's hard not to get excited when you look at Roy's stat line. In the 2018-19 season Roy led the Quebec Midget AAA League with 38 goals and 50 assists for 88 points--the highest point total in a single QMAAA season in over 10 years.

Roy capped off the year scoring 13 points in six games with the Team Quebec at the Canada Winter Games en route to a gold medal finish.

Fans will also have the chance to get an early look at other newly drafted Sea Dogs including Charles Savoie, Peter Orr, and Cam Miranda. Joining them will be a full roster of returning 17-year-old Sea Dogs players including Brady Burns, Alex Drover, Dawson Stairs, Josh Lawrence, William Villeneuve, Jeremie Poirier and Charlie Desroches.
