Pacific FC Signs Matteo Polisi
Victoria, BC - Pacific Football Club has signed an attacking midfielder Matteo Polisi from Simon Fraser University. The 22-year-old Coquitlam native will join the squad for the 2021 season.
"Matteo is a player who's highly motivated to make it as a professional and is grateful for this opportunity," said said Pa-Modou Kah, Head Coach, Pacific FC. "He's technically good and has a nose for the goal."
At five foot 10 inches, Polisi has been called a 'gifted goal-scorer' by SFU head coach Clint Schneider who recognized he had professional potential.
Prior to his tenure at SFU where he played alongside his brother Marcello, Polisi spent the past two years with Portland's U17/18 development program after several seasons with the Whitecaps FC Residency program and representing British Columbia.
Polisi spent his youth playing for the Coquitlam Metro-Ford side that lifted the BC Provincial U15 Cup Final in 2015. He scored a hat-trick in the second half of extra time to give his side the 3-1 victory.
Following his stellar performance in the BC Provincials, Polisi was invited into the Portland Timbers' Residency Program in the Spring of 2016. He made three appearances for the Timbers U16 side that first season, and five with the U18s, scoring three goals. He played five games for the Timbers U18 side in 2016-17, again scoring three goals.
"I'm looking forward to working with him and welcoming him into the PFC family," said Kah.
