March 25, 2021 - Canadian Premier League (CPL) - Pacific FC News Release

Victoria, BC - Pacific FC has extended three-year coaching contracts to head coach Pa-Modou Kah and associate head coach and technical director James Merriman.

"We are extremely excited to have secured both Pa and James for the long term with Pacific FC," said Rob Friend, CEO, Pacific FC. "These are two of the most talented coaches in this country, and their ambition to build a winning organization, along with their commitment to the community falls directly in line with the clubs vision."

Kah, 40, joined Pacific FC as head coach in early 2020. He had last worked as the assistant coach at MLS side FC Cincinnati and earlier for Whitecaps FC 2. His playing career included representing Norway as a national team member and more than 400 professional appearances playing throughout the top leagues of Norway, Sweden, Holland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, USA and Canada.

Vancouver Island native Merriman, 35, has been on the coaching staff with Pacific FC since their inaugural season in 2019. In addition to his duties as association head coach, he also serves as the technical director for the Trident Development Program.

Merriman's past coaching experience includes an assistant coach role for SFU men's soccer NCAA Division II program and at Vancouver Island University. His playing days included stints with the Colorado Rapids Reserves, Victoria Highlander FC as well as Colorado Lightning.

The duo has been integral to the development of both professional and youth soccer on Vancouver Island. Despite setbacks to the 2020 playing schedule due to COVID-19, both Kah and Merriman found create ways to keep their players involved and engaged. The team finished fourth in the Canadian Premier League last season.
