Pacific FC News Release

ctoria, BC - After a pair of games on the road, Pacific Football Club returns to Vancouver Island to enter the annual Canadian Championship, Canada's 13-team domestic tournament which includes clubs from the Canadian Premier League, MLS and USL, League1 Ontario and PLSQ.

Pacific FC is coming off a hard-fought, scoreless draw at Edmonton last weekend, where the squad bounced back from a disappointing result in Hamilton to split the spoils with FC Edmonton and return to the Island with a point. The midweek match-up is the fifth overall game for the young Pacific squad, who have sustained a number of injuries to their lineup; the limited roster has allowed the squad's young contingent to see significant minutes.

It will be a waiting game to see what lineup is fielded by Pacific FC head coach Michael Silberbauer in the Wednesday night tilt, as the team searches for an offensive spark to push them forward in the Canadian Championship. Between the woodwork, llage has stood tall in each of Pacific's games so far this season.

"Calgary will be a tough test for us," said Silberbauer. "They are the team to beat in the league right now. However this is the Cup and it all comes down to who is better on the day."

Cavalry FC have turned heads with an undefeated start to their CPL campaign, going 3-0 over York9 FC, Valour FC and Forge FC, including a 2-1, May 12th win at Tim Hortons Field. Starting 'keeper Marco Carducci has also been strong between the pipes, allowing just two goals in three games and recording a 1-0 clean sheet at Spruce Meadows over Valour FC.

The 2019 Canadian Championship kicks off Wednesday evening at Westhills Stadium in the first leg of the of the newly-expanded, 13-team Championship. The domestic cup consists of five rounds, with the winner-determined on aggregate score across a home and away series-moving onto the next round.

Pacific FC and Cavalry FC face off at Westhills Stadium in Langford, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. PST. Gates and beer gardens open at 5:30 p.m., with a live DJ set from DJ Anger.
