Princeton WhistlePigs News Release
The Princeton Devil Rays (3-8) started off the month of July with their first home win of the season against the Bluefield Orioles (8-3). The Rays scored 3 in the bottom of the third inning, and they never had to look back from there. The Orioles were blanked the entire game by good pitching and errorless baseball by the Devil Rays.
Princeton added a run in the fourth and three more off a homerun in the sixth. The bats were alive for the Devil Rays as they knocked out three homeruns during the ballgame. The final of the ballgame was 7-0. The win for the Rays ties the season series with rival Bluefield and the race for the Mercer Cup at 1-1.
