Overseas Round up Vol. 4
It was another exciting week of overseas play for the Connecticut Sun. Six players were in action throughout the week.
Starting things off on Wednesday, Nov. 27th was Jonquel Jones and UMMC Ekaterinburg. In her first game back in EuroLeague action Jones scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and tallied two assists. UMMC received its first loss of the season to TTT Riga, 89-81.
On the same day, Bri Jones and Alyssa Thomas faced Nadezhda. USK Praha came out with an 87-63 win in which Jones recorded a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Thomas scored 12 points, handed out seven assists and grabbed nine boards. Later in the week, the pair faced Slovanka in ZBL action. USK Praha defeated Slovanka 121-32. Jones set a new ZBL record for points scored with 50, she also recorded 12 rebounds. Thomas nearly had a double-double of her own after she scored 11 points, tallied eight assists and grabbed five rebounds.
Morgan Tuck also competed on Wednesday, Nov. 27th in EuroLeague play. In Cukurova's loss to Bourges 92-62, Tuck recorded 13 points, five rebounds and went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. This is the second game she has led Cukurova in points.
A few days later, on Saturday, Nov. 30th Tuck and Courtney Williams faced off in the Turkish Basketball League. Williams and Izmit walked away with the 92-79 victory over Tuck and Cukurova. Williams scored 22 points and had 13 rebounds. Tuck led her team with 28 points and 10 rebounds.
On Thanksgiving Day, Natisha Hiedeman and Lulea Basket took down the undefeated Artego 82-78 in EuroCup action. Hiedeman scored a team-high 31 points, recorded 12 rebounds and dished out eight assists. Three days later, Hideman was named MVP of the Game after another outstanding performance. In her team's 77-62 win over Hogsbo, the rookie tallied another double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Action picks back up on Wednesday, Dec. 4th and Thursday, Dec. 5th when Tuck, J. Jones, Thomas and B. Jones compete in EuroLeague play and Hiedeman plays in a EuroCup game. Williams and everyone except J. Jones will compete again on Saturday, Dec. 7th for their respective league play.
