Otters Acquire Tasin from Winnipeg
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters have acquired right-handed pitcher Rob Tasin in a trade with the American Association's Winnipeg Goldeyes for a player to be named later.
Tasin played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma before being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 19th round of the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft.
After spending 2015 with the Williamsport Crosscutters, Tasin split time in 2016 with the Lakewood BlueClaws and Winnipeg. In 19 games with the Goldeyes, Tasin threw 22 innings, struck out 17 batters and finished with a 4.50 ERA.
"Rob has been a proven back of the bullpen arm throughout his career," Otters manager Andy McCauley said. "We look for him to follow in a long line of great closers for the Otters."
Tasin arrives in Evansville with a 3.77 ERA in two seasons of professional baseball. His best stint came in Williamsport when he collected 17 saves in 29.1 innings.
Evansville will open the regular season in Marion, Ill. May 12 against the Southern Illinois Miners at 7:05 p.m. and will celebrate Bosse Field's Opening Night May 19 against the Gateway Grizzlies at 6:35 p.m.
The Evansville Otters are the 2006 and 2016 Frontier League champions. Group packages and season tickets are now on sale. For more information, visit evansvilleotters.com or call 812-435-8686.
