Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
OREM, UTAH - The Missoula Osprey were held in check by the Orem Owlz on Monday here at Brent Brown Ballpark, and dropped a 5-1 decision to the Owlz in front of 1,469 fans.
The Osprey (12-10, 37-23) had two runners on base only one time during the game, and did not score until Jeremia Gomez hit a solo home run to lead off the top of the eighth. Ryan Court, Roidany Aguila and Jon Griffin each singled, while Eric Groff doubled for Missoula.
Orem (13-8, 36-24) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a RBI groundout in the third by Ryan Jones, then added four more in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-0 lead off of Missoula starter Dexter Price (2-1).
Price ventured into the seventh inning for the first time in his professional baseball career, and retired the final eight batters he faced in his seven-inning effort. Price surrendered eight hits and four earned runs while walking a batter, hitting a batter and striking out six.
The Osprey will continue their three-game series against Orem on Tuesday here at Brent Brown Ballpark. Right-hander Raymond Hernandez gets the call for the Osprey on the mound, while the Owlz will counter with right-hander Joe Melioris.
The Osprey will return home for a three-game series with the Great Falls Voyagers on Tuesday, August 30. Tickets for all remaining games this season are now on sale at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 N. Higgins, by phone at (406) 543-3300 or online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
