Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey fell behind early to the Ogden Raptors on Saturday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field, and could not overcome the deficit in a 9-4 setback in front of 1,947 fans.
The Osprey (11-9, 36-22) started in a 4-0 hole, as Raptors catcher Pratt Maynard hit a grand slam just inside the left-field foul pole in the top of the first inning. The Osprey responded with a pair of runs in the home half, with Chris Ellison scoring on a double by Tom Belza, who then scored on a wild pitch to cut the Missoula deficit to 4-2.
Ogden (8-12, 30-28) kept on scoring, getting solo home runs from Justin Boudreaux and O'Koyea Dickson over the next two innings to expand the lead to 6-2. The Osprey pulled within 6-3 with a bases-loaded walk to Stephen Cardullo, but could not get any closer.
Ogden answer the Missoula run in the third with a single tally in the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth to push the edge to 9-3. Jon Griffin would hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, his 14th of the season, to pull the Osprey within 9-4. It was also the 70th home run the 2011 version of the Osprey have hit, 10 shy of the club record set just two seasons ago.
Cardullo and Belza each finished with two hits, as the Osprey here held to just seven on the night. Eric Groff and Ty Linton added base hits for Missoula.
The Osprey will wrap up their three-game series with the Ogden Raptors on Sunday at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Left-hander Taylor Siemens will get the start on the mound for the Osprey, while right-hander Freddie Cabrera will go for the Raptors.
Tickets for all remaining games this season are now on sale at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 N. Higgins, by phone at (406) 543-3300 or online at MissoulaOsprey.com.
