Osprey and Raptors Set for Game Three of the Series Thursday

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (13-13) and Ogden Raptors (17-9) face off in game three of the series Thursday from Lindquist Field at 7:00 pm.

The Osprey hand the ball to Wilfry Cruz (4-0) who makes his fifth start of the season. The right-hander possesses an ERA of 4.05 in 20 innings, striking out team-high 20 batters. In his last start, Cruz threw five innings and allowed three earned runs with four strikeouts. The 20-year-old has pitched exactly five innings on all four starts.

Set to take the mound for Ogden is right-hander Kevin Malisheski (0-1). In five starts, the 20-year-old owns an 8.83 ERA in 17.1 innings. Malisheski has compiled 14 strikeouts and issued 11 free passes this year. In his last start, the righty hurled three innings and allowed seven earned runs at Grand Junction. Ogden comes off an 11-0 victory against Missoula Wednesday.

Ogden jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning with a two-out RBI double from Miguel Vargas. He was thrown out trying to extend it to a triple, but gave the Raptors a 1-0 lead with the RBI. Missoula starter Edgar Martinez (3-1) nearly worked out of a scoreless third inning, but an error and a two-run homer gave Ogden a 3- 0 lead through three.

Zac Almond led off the top of the fourth with a single for the Osprey, while Alex King drew a walk. With one out, Missoula was unable to score a run off Ogden starter Jose Chacin (3-0). Matt Cogan then delivered a solo home run for Ogden in the bottom of the frame to push the lead to 4-0.

Landon Whitson entered in the bottom of the sixth on the mound for Missoula, allowing a two-out solo home run to Ronny Brito. Four consecutive singles scored two more runs and the Raptors held a 7-0 advantage after six.

Four more Raptors runs scored in the bottom of the eighth as Drew Avens drilled his second home run of the night, this one driving in three runs to cap off the four-run inning and give Ogden an 11-0 lead in which they held on to.

Thursday's first pitch in Ogden is slated for a 7:00 pm first pitch at Lindquist Field. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 p.m. on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App.
