Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - The Redbirds went scoreless through the first seven innings in their 6-2 loss against the Storm Chasers Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.
Omaha posted two runs in the third off an RBI-single by Mitch Maier, as he headed home on a Max Ramirez's double to center field. The Chasers tacked on four more, three in the seventh and one in the eighth, before Brock Peterson put the 'Birds on the board, knocking one out of the park in the bottom of the frame. Lance Berkman picked up his third hit in the ninth, an RBI-double, to plate the only other Redbirds run on the night.
Memphis starter John Gast allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings while striking out two for his fifth loss. Omaha starter Jake Odorizzi picked up the win, tossing five scoreless innings of one-hit ball while walking a season-high five batters and striking out six.
The Redbirds wrap up their final homestand of the 2012 season tomorrow with game time scheduled for 1:05p.m. The first 3,000 fans will receive a 2013 Redbirds Magnet Schedule giveaway presented by Victory University. For ticket information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
