Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Bryan/College Station, TX - The Bombers are excited to announce the addition of two right-handed pitchers from north of Texas to this summer's roster. Relief pitcher Joe Buckendorff and closer Cam Wynne will represent Oklahoma and Nebraska in the Brazos Valley.

Buckendorff comes to the Bombers from Oklahoma City, OK and made appearances in the 2017 and 2018 seasons for the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors. Buckendorff pitched 44.1 innings and recorded 37 strikeouts for the Conquistadors in 2017. In 2018, Buckendorff saw action in four games, pitching 9 innings. Against New Mexico Military in late February, Buckendorff threw six strikeouts in 4.1 innings, tying his second-highest single game strike total at Dodge City. Buckendorff has committed to pitch for Lamar in 2020.

Buckendorff has plenty of velocity on his pitches, and the Bombers are excited to have him on board.

"Joe's going to be a big arm for us," says Pitching Coach James Dillard. "Joe is a big righty and is going to get it up there in velocity. We're excited about what Joe brings to us and the caliber of pitcher he is and hopefully, he'll also be a key component of our staff this summer."

Like his Bombers teammate, Wynne has also taken the JUCO-to-D1 route. Wynne took his talents from Lincoln, NE to Johnson County Community College in Kansas before committing to Texas A&M last September. Wynne has a strong arm, and his pitches can run up into the mid- to high-90s. Wynne racked up 23 strikeouts in 21 innings for JCCC as a freshman, building off an impressive two-year starting high school career in Nebraska. His size and athleticism made him an attractive signing for both the Aggies and the Bombers for their upcoming seasons.

"Cam Wynne is a physical monster, standing around 6 foot 6," says Manager Brian Nelson. "He has got an explosive, powerful right arm. Getting Cam in a Bombers uniform is a big win for our ball-club as he will help solidify the back end of our bullpen."
