NWHL Unveils Twitch Broadcast Plans, Announcers for 2021 NWHL Season in Lake Placid

January 22, 2021 - Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) News Release

The National Women's Hockey League today announced the broadcast plans for Twitch during the upcoming season and 2021 Isobel Cup Playoffs, beginning Saturday, Jan. 23 and culminating with the Isobel Cup Final on Feb. 5 at the 1980 Rink-Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York.

Of the 24 games in the bubble season, 21 games will be available domestically and globally on Twitch, the NWHL's streaming partner. The three final games of the tournament will air on NBCSN for U.S. fans and will be globally streamed on Twitch.

"We are proud to continue our work with Twitch this season," said NWHL Commissioner Tyler Tumminia. "Twitch has been an incredible partner for our league, helping us win over new fans and collaborating in our mission of advancing the sport and brand of the NWHL."

Throughout the season, the NWHL is providing comprehensive and high-level broadcast coverage. The 21 games on Twitch will be called remotely in a studio in Fort Lauderdale, Florida previously utilized by the NWSL during its 2020 season. The analysts on the broadcasts will be NWHL veterans Erica Ayala and Alexis Pearson, along with Florida Panthers sideline reporter Katie Gaus. The play-by-play announcers are three veterans of the Florida pro sports scene: Steve Goldstein, Josh Appel, and Josh Eastern. Michael Cohen, of Bizzy Media Ventures, is the NWHL's Executive Media Consultant for media deals and production.

Fans will be able to catch the opening of the NWHL's sixth season on Twitch at nwhl.tv/twitch with tripleheaders starting at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 23, and Sunday, Jan. 24. The first game on Saturday features the debut of the Toronto Six - the newest NWHL expansion franchise and the first Canadian team to join the league - against the Metropolitan Riveters. The Six-Riveters game will be followed by a showdown between the two teams that advanced to the 2020 Isobel Cup Final - the Minnesota Whitecaps and Boston Pride. The day of games concludes with the Buffalo Beauts taking on the Connecticut Whale.

The Isobel Cup Semifinals are on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET. The Cup Final takes place Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. ET.
