NWBL Tabs Top Rookie, MVP

The National Women's Basketball League announced today that Swin Cash of the Springfield Spirit was awarded Rookie of the Year, and Sheryl Swoopes of the Houston Stealth was named MVP for the 2003 season.

Swin Cash helped lead the Spirit to a 17 – 4 season this year and averaged a team high 19.2 ppg. Her 7.6 rebounds per game this season for the Spirit, were second only (on the Spirit) to Rebecca Lobo. Swin is also a member of the WNBA's Detroit Shock.

Sheryl Swoopes, League MVP, averaged 20.5 points per game for the Stealth, helping them to their 2nd NWBL Pro Cup title in as many years. Sheryl is presently playing in the WNBA with the Houston Comets.

The NWBL is a Professional women's basketball league with franchises in Fort Collins, CO; Springfield, MA; Knoxville, TN; Chicago, IL; Birmingham, AL; Houston, TX and Grand Rapids, MI. The League boasts some of the best players in women' s basketball today, including, Sue Bird, Sheryl Swoopes, Swin Cash, Kara Wolters, Tina Thompson, Rebecca Lobo, and Becky Hammon.
