Hartford Yard Goats News Release

HARRISBURG, PA- Down to his last strike, Raudy Read doubled to the gap in right-center to knock in two runs and give the Harrisburg Senators a 3-2 win in 10 innings over the Hartford Yard Goats Tuesday night at FNB Field in Harrisburg. It was Read's fourth hit of the game. The Yard Goats had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Mylz Jones.

Pinch runner Jaron Long started the last of the 10th at second base, under the new extra inning rules. He moved to third on a sacrifice, but after reliever Reid Humphreys walked Carter Kieboom, he got Daniel Johnson on a pop out, before Read - on a 1-and-2 pitch - ended it with a double that was almost caught by center-fielder Omar Carrizales on a sliding attempt.

Hartford (52-60) snapped a scoreless tie with a run in the fourth inning off of starter Tyler Mapes. Brian Mundell's double to left-center scored Sam Hilliard, who had reached on a single. Meanwhile, Yard Goats starter Jesus Tinoco was cruising into the fourth with no runs allowed on two hits, but had to be lifted with two outs in the fourth, when Daniel Johnson's line shot hit the right-hander on his pitching hand. Scott Griggs entered but surrendered an unearned run in the fifth, as Harrisburg (58-54) tied the contest on a single by Alec Keller, a hit batsman and an error on a double play attempt.

Hilliard led the Hartford attack with two hits, while Read's four hits and two RBI paced Harrisburg.

Game two of the series is Wednesday night at Harrisburg, starting at 6:30. RHP Rico Garcia will pitch for the Yard Goats against RHP Wil Crowe for the Senators.

The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio1410.iheart.com and MiLB.com.

The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Friday night, August 10, at 7:05 to host the Bowie Baysox.
