
New York Red Bulls Add Colombian Forward Jorge Cabezas Hurtado on Loan from Watford FC

HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls have added Colombian forward Jorge Cabezas Hurtado on loan from Watford FC pending the receipt of his P-1 visa and ITC, the club announced today. Hurtado will be on loan with the Red Bulls until the end of the season. The transaction was completed before the close of the Secondary Transfer Window on August 2.
"Jorge is an exciting young player that we are happy to add to our roster for the rest of the season," Head of Sport Jochen Schneider said. "We believe Jorge has the potential to help our roster this season and we are looking forward to him getting on the pitch at Red Bull Arena soon."
Hurtado, 19, joined Watford FC in January, and then joined Categoria Primer A side Independiente Medellin on a six-month loan. He made 10 appearances for the club across all competitions. Prior to Medellin, he played for Real Cartagena and made 20 appearances for the club, while scoring four goals. Hurtado made his professional debut for Cartagena on April 14, 2021.
"Jorge is a promising talent that we are excited to add to our team," said Head Coach Troy Lesesne. "We believe he has the qualities to succeed in MLS and help us push towards our goals this season."
The Tumaco, Colombia native has represented Colombia at the U-20 level. He has made 20 appearances, where he has scored three goals and tallied two assists. Hurtado scored two goals and tallied one assist at the 2023 U-20 South American Championship.
