New England League Unveils 25th Anniversary Logo

February 27, 2019 - New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) News Release

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) is proud to unveil its official 25th-anniversary season logo, as announced by Commissioner Sean McGrath.

The new 25th Anniversary Mark for the New England League was created in conjunction with Beam Team Design. The Dallas-Fort Worth-based design form worked with McGrath and the NECBL to identify the needs of the landmark season project and execute them to the fullest - for the benefit the league, the teams, the communities, and the fans. The results are bold, familiar, and triumphant.

The logo is anchored by the well-known NECBL logo - which is front and center within the piece - and the familiar colors of the league - Black, Red, and White. Silver was brought-in to the color way to acknowledge and display the 25 seasons of success the NECBL has experienced. A large, uniquely-placed "25" graphic appears behind the league logo - with the Number 2 tucked behind the left side of the logo, and the Number 5 appearing to wrap around the "B" in "NECBL". The font used for the numbers is classic and traditional - to match that of the league. But, it has a modern, forward-thinking feel to it - also like the league - with its slanted appearance.

The New England League was founded in 1993 under the leadership of Emmy Award-winning television producer/director Joseph Consentino, former St. John's University and Boston Red Sox minor league outfielder. George Foster, former Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets All-Star HR and RBI leader, was the NECBL's first Commissioner. Play started in 1994 and today the NECBL has become a nationally recognized top-tier league that plays in all six New England states and recruits players attending U.S colleges and universities not only across New England, but the entire country and foreign countries, as well.

The New England League has long prided itself on its ability to transcend communities with the region's love of baseball, a common denominator in all walks of life, combined with some of the nation's elite up-and-coming prospects who share one common goal. Together, we all make baseball -- and our communities -- better thanks to a passionate fan base and the dedication of each of our member franchises, from host families, to volunteers, to front offices and everyone in between.

Of course, the talent that passes through the league and its franchises each summer is undeniably some of the best nationwide, and that fact is made more obvious with the league's success in the MLB Draft each June. Providing a platform for players to showcase their skills in front of scouts from every Major League Baseball (MLB) organization, the New England League has sent nearly 150 alumni to the Major Leagues and has had nearly 100 alumni drafted in each of the last 10 MLB Drafts.

The 2019 NECBL season opens Wednesday, June 5, with a matchup between the league's two-time defending champion Valley Blue Sox traveling to its newest expansion organization, the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, as part of a full six-game Opening Day slate. The Vermont Mountaineers will host the 2019 NECBL All-Star Game on Sunday, July 28, at Montpelier Recreation Field before the postseason begins on Saturday, August 3.

The New England Collegiate Baseball League is a wooden bat college summer league that fields teams in all six New England states. Partially funded by Major League Baseball, the NECBL started play in 1994 and is enjoying its 25th-year anniversary season this summer. The New England League has sent nearly 150 alumni to the Major Leagues and has had nearly 100 alumni drafted in each of the last 10 Major League Baseball Drafts. The New England League was recently ranked No. 2 in the Summer Baseball Register's Top-10 collegiate summer baseball leagues in the country.
