Nets, Liberty, Barclays Center Host Bus Tour to Encourage Census Completion, Voter Registration

September 30, 2020 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) - New York Liberty News Release

In order to encourage individuals to complete the 2020 Census and register to vote, a Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty, and Barclays Center-branded bus will visit specific Brooklyn neighborhoods that are trailing in census completion and voter registration on Thursday, Oct. 1 and Friday, Oct. 2. Volunteers from BSE Global, the Mayor's Office of the Census and NYC Census 2020 will engage with residents in these neighborhoods. Also aboard the bus will be Team Hype, part of the Nets on-court entertainment groups, to give away Nets and Liberty swag.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, the bus will end its route at Barclays Center where the Nets and Liberty will host an activation on the plaza to provide a fun opportunity where individuals can complete the census, register to vote, and enjoy other entertainment elements.

Brooklyn is at a critical juncture in the census count, with the lowest self-response rate in the city and lagging drastically behind America's average census response rate. Without a complete count, New York City can potentially lose billions of dollars every year for the next 10 years for COVID-19 relief and vital congressional representation.
