CARY, NC - The reigning NWSL Shield Winners North Carolina Courage are scheduled to travel to City Stadium in Richmond, Va. to take on the Washington Spirit on March 17, 2018 a before the 2018 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Season.

In partnership with the Richmond Kickers and Richmond Strikers, the match will serve as the marquee game during the Jefferson Cup Girls Weekend, host to more than 5,000 players and 350 participating teams.

"We are thrilled that the Kickers' new long-term lease for City Stadium now allows the club to attract high profile events year-round," commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. "The Courage and Spirit rosters are comprised of numerous national team players who have represented their countries on the international stage, and this is a fantastic opportunity for the RVA community to see many of the world's best players right here at City Stadium. We are delighted to collaborate with the Washington Spirit, North Carolina Courage, and Richmond Strikers to bring this world-class match to Richmond."

This match will serve as an important exhibition game as some of the world's best players will go head to head at City Stadium for the first time in history. The NC Courage closed out the 2017 season with a hard-fought battle against the Portland Thorns in Orlando for the NWSL Championship following a superb regular season. With an overall regular season record of 16W-7L-1D, the Courage concluded this standout inaugural season as the NWSL Shield Winners.
