Mystics Partner with Leidos to Present Virtual Home Opener on May 16

WASHINGTON, D.C. - To celebrate what would have been their home opener and banner raising ceremony, the 2019 WNBA Champion Washington Mystics will host a #TogetheratHomeOpener Virtual celebration presented by Leidos.

The virtual program begins at 10 a.m. on Sat. May 16 and will run across most Mystics social (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) and partner platforms. Fans will be able to connect with the team in a day filled with exclusive content, giveaways, and special offers including discounts on Mystics merchandise on the Fanatics' website.

The schedule for the day is as follow:

10 a.m.-The day tips-off with special messages from Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ted Leonsis, Chairman of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Sheila C. Johnson, Vice Chairman of Monumental Sports & Entertainment and Head Coach Mike Thibault.

12 p.m.-A virtual swag surf fan video will premiere on Washington's social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook). Fans submitted videos of themselves 'swag surfing' at home and cheering loudly "Let's Go Mystics". The fan videos will be included in a video of the team's Championship Celebration Swag Surf moment from 2019. Throughout the day, fans will also be encouraged to post pictures showing how they celebrate a Mystics game day at home.

From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m, Natasha Cloud will join Mystics in-game hosts Britt Waters for a special Instagram Live Hangout with fellow in-game personalities KyleOnTheMic, DJ Heat, Pax the Panda, and play-by-play announcer Meghan McPeak.

Episode 1 of Run It Back / Mystics: Journey to a Championship will debut at 5:00 p.m. on Facebook Live. Associate Head Coach Eric Thibault will be on hand to answer fan questions in the Facebook Live chat. Subsequent episodes will air starting Monday, May 18.

Fans will also be able to relive exciting moments from the 2019 playoffs with "Play it Back" which will feature commentary from Finals MVP Emma Meesseman, Ariel Atkins, Latoya Sanders, Tianna Hawkins, Myisha Hines-Allen, assistant general manager Maria Giovannetti and Eric Thibault on Monumental Sports Network .
