Mustangs Score Four Late to Down Chukars

Billings, MT - The Billings Mustangs down the Idaho Falls Chukars 9-5 to start a pivotal six-game series in Billings. Coming into tonight, all four teams were within three games of each other for the second-half division title.

After both teams were shut out for the first three innings, the Mustangs scratched across four runs in the fourth inning. Marcus Skundrich, Jesus Azuaje, and Aaron Bond each drove in runs to take a 4-0 lead.

The Chukars answered right back in the top of the fifth inning. Matt Feinstein blasted his 20th home run of the season to drive home three runs. After an error, Kona Quiggle singled home Hunter Hisky to tie the game at four apiece.

The Chukars bullpen faltered, as Billings would go on to score two runs in the seventh inning and three in the eighth. After a leadoff walk issued to Jalen Garcia, Christian Sepulveda reached base on a fielders choice. Garcia and Sepulveda stole second and third to set up a two-RBI single from Anthony Amicangelo. Amicangelo collected two hits on the evening and drove in three. Amicangelo leads the team with 78 RBI on the season.

Billings held a 6-4 advantage after seven innings before a three-run eighth inning which was highlighted by a Christian Sepulveda two-RBI double.

The Chukars plated one run in the ninth inning on a Matt Feinstein single but the Mustangs held on to win 9-5.

Matt Feinstein paced the Chukars offensively. He finished 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.

Neil Lang dazzled on the hill again out of the bullpen, throwing 2 2/3 scoreless while striking out four. He currently holds a six-inning scoreless streak over his last three appearances.

After the Missoula Paddleheads walked it off against the Great Falls Voyagers tonight, the Billings Mustangs remain one game behind Missoula for the second-half crown.
