Carolina Mudcats News Release
Zebulon, NC --- The Cincinnati Reds have made a series of transactions impacting their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats prior to tonight's homestand finale against the Jacksonville Suns.
Outfielder Chris Heisey has been promoted to Triple-A Louisville after leading the Southern League in many offensive categories for weeks. Heisey leads the league in hitting, hits, slugging percentage and runs scored, while appearing in the top five in other offensive categories including on-base percentage and extra base hits. Heisey will join the Bats for their game at Gwinnett tonight in Georgia.
Replacing Heisey on the active roster is OF/IF Michael Griffin, who began 2009 with the Mudcats. Griffin was sent to Louisville in mid-May, and will be in uniform tonight for Carolina.
Meanwhile, 3B Juan Francisco has been activated from the disabled list after recovering from a right hamstring injury suffered last week at Tennessee. Francisco takes the roster spot of IF Jake Kahaulelio, who was returned to High-A Sarasota.
Additionally, RHP Jordan Smith has been activated from the disabled list and will start tonight's game against Jacksonville.
