GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- Minnesota United eyes a third straight win at home when it quickly turns around to host San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, May 12 at 1:00 p.m. CT. The match comes just three days after the Loons' first trip to Los Angeles Football Club, a 2-0 loss. It will be broadcast on FOX Sports North, with radio coverage on 1500 ESPN.
FIRST TOUCHES:
Mason Toye returns to the squad this weekend after serving a one-match suspension for the red card he received in the 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Maximiano, Harrison Heath and Collin Martin got their first starts of the 2018 season in the 2-0 loss at LAFC. It was Maximiano and Heath's first appearances with the club.
Bobby Shuttleworth has made at least four saves in each of his four appearances for the Loons this season. His 76.9% save percentage is the third highest in MLS.
Miguel Ibarra leads MNUFC with seven shots on target this season. He is the fifth most-accurate shooter in MLS, with 70% of his shots ending up on goal.
MNUFC has outscored opponents 10-5 in the second halves of matches this season. The team has not fared as well in first halves, as it's been outscored 2-13.
The Loons have won all three matches where they have scored first. The Quakes, meanwhile, have lost the four matches in which they conceded first.
Jackson Yueill is a native of Bloomington, Minnesota. He was a teammate of Abu Danladi's at UCLA from 2015 to 2016.
Minnesota assistant coach Mark Watson has held multiple coaching positions with San Jose. He was an assistant from 2010 to 2013, then took over as interim head coach for the latter part of 2013. Watson was named head coach for the 2014 season.
