Mitch Keller Earns Pitcher of the Week Recognition
Bradenton, Fla. - Pitcher Mitch Keller has been named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 1-May 7. Keller recorded his second consecutive scoreless start on Friday night. The right-hander fired seven scoreless innings against the Dunedin Blue Jays and struck out nine batters without issuing a walk. Dunedin, the FSL's top hitting team, managed just two singles.
Keller is a consensus top-100 prospect in baseball. Last season he earned a late season promotion to Bradenton and went 2-0 in the playoffs as the Marauders captured the FSL championship.
Keller is the second Marauder to earn Player/Pitcher of the Week recognition in 2017. He was selected by the Pirates in the second round of the 2014 draft. He is 21 years old and a native of Cedar Rapids, IA.
The Marauders return home on Thursday, May 11 to host the Palm Beach Cardinals. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The game is a Thirsty Thursday presented by Budweiser and Ticket Sarasota.
