Missions Take First Game from Hooks 3-2

CORPUS CHRISTI--The Missions used a three-run fourth inning and Trey Wingenter stranded the tying run at second base in the ninth inning as San Antonio won its fourth straight Saturday night at Whataburger Field.Nick Schulz extended his on-base streak to 17 games when he doubled home a pair of runs off Kent Emanuel. Two batters later, Franmil Reyes singled home a run to make it 3-0.The Hooks scored twice in the eighth off Rafael De Paula. River Stevens fifth error of the year at third base was followed by a two-run homer to left by Tyler Wolfe.Wingenter walked Garrett Stubbs with one out in the ninth. Stubbs advanced to second on a groundout. Ramon Laureano grounded a 3-2 pitch deep in the hole at short. Jose Rondon made a nice play to backhand it and his long throw was barely in time to nip Laureano at first for the game's final out.San Antonio has also won five of the last six, a stretch that started with their nine-run comeback win last Sunday at home. The Missions are tied for second in the South Division with the Hooks.
