San Antonio Missions News Release

MIDLAND - The Missions pounded out a season-high 17 hits and established a season-high for runs in a 10-5 series-opening win Thursday night at Security Bank Ballpark.

Six San Antonio hitters collected multiple hits. Austin Allen and River Stevens each had three hits. Stevens also knocked in three runs.

The offense was enough to make starter Logan Allen (2-1) a winner. Allen worked five innings. He ran into trouble in the fourth and fifth frames, needing 50 pitches while allowing three runs. Allen allowed one hit and fanned five over his first three innings of work.

The Missions (8-5) moved back into a first-place tie with Midland in the South Division and improved their road record to 5-2.

Austin Allen left the game with an apparent injury after grounding out in the seventh inning.

Midland batters struck out 13 times. San Antonio's pitching staff has recorded a Double-A-leading 144 strikeouts this season while allowing only 92 hits.

The series continues in Midland tonight.
