Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Three home runs led the Fort Myers Miracle to a 7-6 win Wednesday night over the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Hammond Stadium.

Down 1-0 in the second after a Nate Lowe home run, Taylor Grzelakowski evened the score with a home run of his own.

In the third, Jared Foster gave the Miracle a 2-1 lead with his first home run of the season. Fort Myers would add three more in the inning on a Travis Blankenhorn bases clearing triple.

Charlotte cut the gap to 5-2 in the fifth on a Rene Pinto RBI groundout.

Leading by the same score in the seventh, Miracle outfielder Jaylin Davis crushed a two-run shot to right to extend the lead to 7-2. Davis has homered in two straight games.

The Stone Crabs plated four runs in the eighth inning to make it interesting. With two runs already in, Tristan Gray plated another run on a groundout before Pinto brought Charlotte to 7-6 with a sacrifice fly.

But that was the closest the Stone Crabs would come as Andrew Vasquez slammed the door with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to earn his second save of the season.

Miracle starter Charlie Barnes (1-3) impressed in his longest outing of the year. Barnes worked 6.1 innings to earn his first win of the season. The left-hander allowed two runs on seven hits.

Charlotte left-hander Brock Burke (1-4) suffered the loss in relief of Nathan Eovaldi. Burke tossed five innings. He allowed six runs on six hits.

The Miracle begin a seven-game road trip Thursday night with the first of three against the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
