Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle and St. Lucie Mets resumed Saturday's suspended game in the top of the third inning Sunday afternoon at Hammond Stadium. However, tied 2-2 in the sixth, the game was suspended again due to heavy rain. The regularly scheduled game was also postponed.

The suspended game will resume on June 1 at 4:00 p.m. in Port St. Lucie. The game will pick up in the bottom of the sixth inning with the Miracle at the plate. Fort Myers has a runner at first and one out. The postponed game will immediately follow the conclusion of the suspended game. The teams will then play a doubleheader on June 2.

Fort Myers took a 2-0 lead into the fourth but committed two costly errors that allowed St. Lucie to tie the score. Dan Rizzie and Jacob Zanon each drove in runs in the inning.

Miracle right fielder Jimmy Kerrigan kept the game tied at two by throwing out Gene Cone at the plate to end the sixth inning.

Harol Gonzalez pitched 3.1 shutout innings out of the St. Lucie bullpen. The right-hander allowed two hits and struck out four.

The Miracle begin a three-game series Monday night at Hammond Stadium against the Bradenton Marauders, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. First pitch from Fort Myers is set for 7:00 p.m.
