Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle opened a six-game homestand with a 3-2 win over the Jupiter Hammerheads on Tuesday night at Hammond Stadium.
The game was delayed by 47-minutes in the top of the fourth due to rain.
Brandon Lopez broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth with a sacrifice fly to right. The third baseman finished 1-1 with a walk.
Alex Kirilloff gave the Miracle an early 1-0 lead with a first inning sacrifice fly. The 20-year old's 13-game hitting streak was snapped with an 0-2 night.
Jupiter tied the game, 1-1, in the second when Micah Brown bounced into a double play with the bases loaded.
The game stayed 1-1 until the fifth when Taylor Grzelakowski briefly gave the Miracle a lead with a run scoring double. But the Hammerheads would tie the game in the next half inning on a Jhonny Santos solo home run.
Miracle starter Charlie Barnes took a no decision after allowing one run in 3.1 innings of work. He did not return after the rain delay.
Adam Bray tossed 2.2 innings of relief. The right-hander allowed one run on three hits. Hector Lujan (4-3) earned his fourth win of the season with three shutout innings of relief.
Jupiter's Jorge Guzman surrendered one run in three innings of work. He also did not return after the rain delay in the fourth inning. Jorgan Cavanerio (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season. The right-hander allowed one run in an inning of work.
The series continues on Wednesday night in Fort Myers with a 7:00 p.m. start.
