Minister of Veterans Affairs Steven Blaney Honours Exceptional Citizens from Quebec

Montréal - Fourteen citizens from Quebec were honoured today for their commitment and dedication to Veterans. The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, presented these individuals with the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation during a ceremony in Montréal.
"These individuals have served their country, their communities, and their comrades-and with their selfless dedication they are an inspiration to us all," said Minister Blaney. "Today, we acknowledge their efforts and their commitment to improving the lives of our Veterans. It was my pleasure to honour them today on behalf of all Canadians."
Minister Blaney presented the Commendation to the following individuals:

Bernard Brennan, Gatineau
Jean Cauchy, Lévis
Gilles Courteau, Boucherville
Claudette Davidson, Pincourt
Frederick Dawson, Rosemère
Alexandre Fontaine, Montréal
Jean Fournier, Trois-Rivières
Hon. Gilles Lamontagne, Québec
Pierre Lefebvre, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield
Mario Sévigny, Trois-Rivières
Jean St-Laurent, Baie-Comeau
Alain Stanké, Montréal
The Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation includes a bar, which can be worn below official decorations on a Veteran's blazer, as well as a lapel pin for civilian wear and a certificate.
The Commendation is presented to individuals who have contributed to the care and well-being of Veterans and to the remembrance of their contributions, sacrifices and achievements. It is intended primarily for Veterans, but in some circumstances may also be awarded to non-Veterans. Nominations may be submitted at any time and are reviewed annually by an advisory committee.
