Mike Green returns to Chocolatetown

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced Thursday in conjunction with the NHL's Washington Capitals that defenseman Mike Green has been assigned to HERSHEY. Additionally, the BEARS announced Thursday that goaltender Nolan Schaefer has been assigned by the NHL's San Jose Sharks. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Green, 21, returns to HERSHEY after helping the BEARS to the 2006 Calder Cup championship last season. He scored nine goals and assisted on 34 others in 2005-06 during the regular season, and also recorded 18 points in 21 games during the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs. Green has two goals and 10 points this season in 54 games with Washington. He is expected to be available when the BEARS host the Albany River Rats this Saturday night at GIANT Center.

Schaefer, 27, returns for a second time to HERSHEY after being recalled February 2 to San Jose. He was a fifth round selection of the San Jose Sharks in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft after playing four years at Providence College. He made five consecutive starts for San Jose last season from October 28 to November 5, recording a shutout at Anaheim November 4, 2005.

The BEARS return to action Saturday at home against the Albany River Rats Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. at GIANT Center, with tickets available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911. HERSHEY will also play at home Sunday against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Face-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
