
Mike Crudale Optioned To Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Righthanded pitcher Mike Crudale has been optioned to Indianapolis from Milwaukee and will join the Indians Thursday. Crudale was acquired from St. Louis earlier today as one of two players to be named later in a Aug. 22 deal that sent Brewers reliever Mike DeJean to the Cardinals.
Crudale, 26, has split the 2003 season between St. Louis and their Triple-A affiliate Memphis. For the Cardinals, he went 0-1 with a 1.64 ERA in 12 appearances. With Memphis, Crudale was 5-5 with six saves and a 5.52 ERA in 32 games.
A California native, Crudale also split the 2002 season between St. Louis and Memphis. He made his major league debut with the Cardinals and went 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 49 games. Crudale spent the final three months of the season with St. Louis and pitched in two post-season games for the National League runners-up. At Triple-A, he was 1-0 with seven saves and a 1.84 ERA in 13 games.
Crudale, 6'0", 200 lbs., was originally a 24th round pick by St. Louis in the 1999 draft. In 2001 he led the Double-A Eastern League with 62 relief appearances going 4-9 with a 3.25 ERA.
