St. Lucie Mets News Release

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Three St. Lucie Mets have been selected to the 2018 Florida State League South Division All Star Team.

Right-handed relief pitchers Ryder Ryan, Matt Blackham and Matt Pobereyko earned the distinction. Ryan was named to the initial All Star team but he has since been promoted to Double-A Binghamton and will not participate.

Blackham and Pobereyko were chosen as alternates for Ryan and Bradenton's Eduardo Vera, who was also promoted to Double-A.

Ryan made 16 relief appearance for St. Lucie and went 1-0 with two saves. He allowed just four earned runs in 20.1 innings for a shiny 1.77 ERA. He walked five batters, struck out 23 and left the FSL with a 0.93 WHIP.

Ryan was acquired by the Mets last August in trade with Cleveland in exchange for Jay Bruce. Ryan finished 2017 in Low-A Columbia and started this season with St. Lucie.

Blackham and Pobereyko have been equally as dominant. Blackham leads the Mets with four wins and is 2 for 2 in save chances. He has given up only five earned runs in 23.2 inning for a 1.90 ERA. He has 29 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .145 against Blackham.

Blackham was selected by New York in the 29th round of the 2014 draft out of Middle Tennessee State. He is in his first year with St. Lucie.

Pobereyko leads St. Lucie with four saves in four opportunities. H has allowed only two earned runs in 14 games (19 innings) for a 0.95 ERA. He has scattered eight hits and struck out 25. Opponents are batting .131 against Pobereyko.

Pobereyko was signed by the Mets as a minor league free agent in 2017.

The 57th FSL All Star Game will be played Saturday, June 16 at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.
