Mayhem Fall in Overtime for Second Time of Season Against Roanoke

ROANOKE, VA- Macon Mayhem forward Caleb Cameron scored the fastest hat trick in team history tonight in the team's 6-5 overtime loss to the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.


Roanoke started off the scoring before the Mayhem answered twice to take the 2-1 lead. Caleb Cameron scored on the power play to tie the game, while Stathis Soumelidis scored the second goal to take the lead. The Rail Yard Dawgs took the lead right back with power play goals from David Gandara and Phil Bronner. Cameron answered once again to tie the game at 3-3 with 2:45 left in the first period.

Cameron completed the fastest hat trick in team history with an unassisted goal 3:59 into the second period, giving the Mayhem the 4-3 lead. After a Colin Murry goal for Roanoke, Soumelidis scored the give Macon the lead once again.

Roanoke defenseman Travis Armstrong scored in the third period to tie the game at 5-5, sending it into overtime. Murray tallied his second of the game just 1:03 in the overtime period to give the Rail Yard Dawgs the 6-5 win.


All five Mayhem goals were scored by either Caleb Cameron or Stathis Soumelidis, as Cameron recorded a hat trick and Soumelidis scored twice. Ryan Salkeld, Jake Trask, and Stephen Pierog all recorded two assists in the game.

The Rail Yard Dawgs improve to 2-4-1 on the season, as both of their wins have come in overtime against the Mayhem.

Troy Passingham started his third straight game, and he picked up his first loss of any kind on the season, allowing six goals on 38 shots against.

With a point tonight, the Mayhem have picked up at least one point in each of their last three games and six of their last seven games. They are 5-0-2 over that seven-game stretch.


Macon Mayhem: 4-3-2 (10 points)

Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs: 2-4-1 (5 points)


The Mayhem are back in action on Saturday, as the team takes on the Fayetteville Marksmen at home at the Macon Coliseum. Saturday is Star Wars Night, as the team will be wearing specialty Chewbacca-themed jerseys. The jerseys will be auctioned off immediately following the game, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Georgia.
